WHAT DO YOU SEE?

Dear eg friends,

What will you see in Monterey? An antarctic diver and a dinosaur expert. A story designer and a renowned architect. An AI pioneer and a master impersonator. A science fiction writer and a techno-magician. The man who cracked the genetics of Alzheimer's. Queen Elizabeth's royal calligrapher. Several MacArthur laureates and an Oscar winner or two. Musicians whose poetics lifts our spirits — and brilliant musical instrument makers who enable them to do so. Technology renegades. Unsung heroes. People who see beyond what's possible, and take us there:

EG is widely lauded as the most inspired, intimate gathering of creative talents anywhere — it's been called “show and tell for geniuses.” This year's conference is, as always, richly woven from many themes, but one of the strongest threads is in the hands of innovators: people who are reinventing tomorrow. Not just another conference of ideas, or shakers and movers — this is a meeting of makers. And doers.

NEW PARTNERS

We are thrilled to announce that Cisco has joined EG as a major partner. With their help, one of the world's greatest natural history museums, The Field Museum in Chicago, will host a special simulcast of EG in their grand 700-seat theater.

Further announcements will flow in the weeks ahead. If you have not done so yet, please book your arrangements before our discounted block of rooms fills up.

I look forward to seeing you in Monterey!

ADAM SAVAGE
Mythbuster

We learn more from failure than from success. But some doozies leave such a desolate, toxic crater that it's hard to extract any positive lesson. Ironically, a few days after Adam told me he'd speak about “failures,” the Mythbusters had an... incident. Failure is always an option.

ROZ SAVAGE
Ocean Rower

Environmental campaigner and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Roz Savage (not overtly related to Adam) holds four world records and is the first woman to row solo across the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans — more than 15,000 miles and 5 million oar strokes.

A master violin maker, Sam taps centuries of instrumental genius as well as every modern high-tech method to build a handful of superb instruments each year, often in intimate partnership with the world's greatest violinists.strad3d.org
